In late October, the RARCC was registered under the Indonesian government as “Yayasan RARCC Indonesia” – a recognized non-profit organization.
Stated here is the RARCCI Foundation’s Purpose:
Involving local communities in efforts for the preservation and protection of natural resources of Raja Ampat for current and future generations, including but not limited to:
- Protecting and preserving the natural heritage of the Raja Ampat Islands
- Encouraging, assisting and facilitating the study of flora and fauna
- Fighting poverty in local communities
- Teaching local community members how to utilize natural resources in a sustainable manner
- Increasing the value of environmental awareness to the local community
- Assisting local people to work in the field of environmentally friendly and sustainable tourism
